«It is a rarity to read Tigrigna poetry translated into English
or any other language. Tsegay Mehari’s “Pots of my mother”
comes as an addition to the meagre Eritrean poetic works in translation.
The ability of these poet’s keens to dish out his feelings knotted
with reasoning is a quality in many of the poems included in this
collection. This is exemplified in poems such as “The Lock Maker”,
“Firefly” and “My Taste” among others. As such as I enjoyed reading
them in both Tigrigna and English, it is my belief that his readers in
other languages would also enjoy reading them.»
